I had an AMAZING time as a second shooter with Amy Witt Photography here in Charlotte! The bride, Stella, flawless. Seriously. I am shooting her wedding in about 8 weeks and then I can show you all the lovely images we captured. For now, the only sneak peek you get is this! Excited yet? Yes. More pretty and more whimsy is in the works.
This might be my favorite family ever. Well other than my own, but they are pulling into a very close second. And no, it is not because they brought me Starbucks Saturday morning…well, yes, that might be exactly why. I guess I am easily bribed; especially by a super yummy Hazelnut Macchiato! Anyway, Landon was alert and happy the whole time. That’s okay, sometimes I love awake baby pics- more realistic because for new parents sometimes it feels like they never really sleep. Hope you enjoy! Like my facebook page or follow me on twitter for more pics!
New families make my heart smile. Isn’t there something just so wonderful about a new baby? Lucky me, I got to meet 5 day young Avery Grace yesterday. She was such a sweetheart, took a nice little nap, and we got some wonderful photos. Caitlin and Andy look like such naturals at this parenting thing already. I hope I get to see little Avery again someday, she is going to be quite a beauty.
I overheard Dad having a one-sided conversation with his little muffin..
“You are so beautiful. Someday you are going to be a supermodel…well a healthy one. Maybe more like a fitness model. And really, really smart too.”
Heart melted, right?
p.s. How amazing does Caitlin look, seriously?
Maybe it’s just me. I don’t think that you need to put your baby in ridiculous costumes or crazy photo-edited unnatural positions to make them the cutest thing ever. I think the wrinkles on your baby’s brow and their skinny little fingers are the best. I don’t want to judge other photographers for what they do, but I do want to make it known that it just is not my style. I want to take those newborn pics that catch you in the throat. You know when you’re a parent and you tear up over a Folgers commercial? That immediate heart felt reaction to something? Well for me, that’s not my baby in a dolphin or turtle costume (no offense, because they are adorable). For me, that’s my baby wrapped up in my husband’s arms. That’s is watching my son gently kiss his new baby sister’s palm. I love photos that show real. I want to take photos that, in twenty years, someone will look back on the most wonderful little moments and be flooded with memories.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a prop here and there. I am all about a fun little ‘planned’ shoot, but the photos that stay with me… the ones that I come back to on a bad day to remind myself why I do this… they show love. They show emotion. They tell a story without words. I want to take the love between two people- newly engaged, or a parent and a child and make it something you not only see but feel through a photo. Lofty goal? Sure. Worth it? Yep.
